A motorist caught driving when two and a half times over the limit has been disqualified for 22 months.

David Bevan, 42, of Bryn Road, Ashton, stood before Wigan justices to admit driving a Renault Clio in Medlock Way when he had 90 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

He can reduce his ban to 22 weeks if he takes a course for drink-drivers.

A fine and costs mean that he also has £419 to pay.
