A Wigan man who drove through the streets at speeds of up to 77mph and failed to stop for the police has been jailed.

Police officers saw a black Volkswagen Golf driving dangerously on the A6 in Chorley at around 9.30pm on September 5.

After failing to stop for officers, the car drove along the roads of Adlington at more than twice the speed limit, eventually colliding with a barrier and coming to a stop.

Neil Fox, 44, of Gidlow Street, Hindley, was charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, failing to provide a breath sample and failing to stop.

He has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for dangerous driving and four months for disqualified driving, and has been disqualified from driving for a further two and a half years.
